(Understandably) our Main Stage shows steal most of the spotlight.
But there’s a part of our mission — the one that started it all — that we’re just as committed to: supporting brand-new work.
Ring Works | New Play Lab started during COVID, to keep the artists and the audience connected on Zoom.
Today, it’s grown into a proper developmental program: a dedicated professional dramaturg, one-on-one mentorship, culminating in a staged reading with audience feedback.
Readings are cool.
Actors are behind music stands, with no set in sight.
We hear stage directions instead of seeing the action.
We fill the gaps with our imagination — and when the reading is well-directed and well-acted, it’s a surprisingly effortless effort.
Those Zoom conversations are still happening by the way.
They’re totally free — no pressure, just curiosity and community.
If you’re interested in this piece of our work, maybe you can join the club?
From my Ring-shaped heart,
Margherita
