| Over a prosecco during our Season Preview, I had the most inspiring conversation.
It was about philanthropy. I’ve been thinking how great it would be to talk about it in schools. Early. Like… Kindergarten early. To break the misconception that philanthropy only belongs to the fortunate few who have retired, accumulated wealth, own property, and can donate big. The Greek word φιλανθρωπία literally means “love of humanity.” It’s an active type of love: personal resources — attention, time, knowledge, influence, money — are invested into fellow humans. As the person I was speaking with put it: “You basically show up.” Everyone can do it. It’s not an experience reserved for some future version of ourselves. So much is possible. You can purchase tickets to a show or a subscription. Invite a friend next time. Why not writing an email to your contacts about this little theatre they may not know? You can follow and amplify our social media presence. Sponsor us through your business. Maybe buy ad space in our playbills. Reach out about volunteering or board service. And yes. You can donate with a gift that makes you proud and help us fully fund this Season by June 30. We are only $19,000 away.
