An Empty Sky

A Staged Reading
October 27, 2026

Written by Joshua Faigen. Directed by Leslie Pasternack.

As a disgraced clergy member and a Jewish piano tuner struggle to build a haven for themselves, the personal and political forces in their lives make them question their beliefs–in religion, in love, in human society, and in themselves.

This play is deeply humane, deeply relevant, and is full of witty and poignant touches.

Following the reading, the audience is invited to remain for a moderated conversation designed to provide constructive feedback to the playwright. Your observations, questions, and impressions become an important part of the play’s development and help shape its next draft.

Audience Advisories

Theatre can stir joy, reflection, sorrow, discomfort, and everything in between. That is part of its power: it asks us to engage with unfamiliar and complicated experiences.

While we do not provide warnings for every challenging theme or emotion our productions may explore, we identify certain potentially distressing content and sensory effects.
