I keep realizing that not everyone knows how shows land on the Ring’s stage.
More than three decades into the life of this theatre, we still honor the radical system set in motion by our founders: our Season rises from the community.
These days, it begins with a digital submission.
But at the heart of the process is a live gathering we call the Ring-Toss.
For three glorious hours, we listen to what artists have been simmering in their hearts and minds.
It’s part elevator pitch, part networking event, part campfire—an encounter of unique minds.
We always leave in awe. Grateful. A little sweaty. Completely amped up by the sheer abundance of possibility.
After that, we read a lot. We discuss. We think. We meet. We ask questions. We start envisioning a flow of stories, genres, themes, aesthetics, emotions and players.
And slowly, the mosaic starts falling into place.
