ABOUT THE COACH
Constance Witman is an performer, director, voice-over actor and acting coach who's been active on the Seacoast since 2002. Recent roles include Masha in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at the Players' Ring Theatre and the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz at the Rochester Opera House. She is the 2023 winner of ArtPort's Best Actor in a Female Role in a Play for her roles as Evy in The Gingerbread Lady and Rosemary Muldoon in Outside Mullingar (both at the Players' Ring Theatre). Favorite roles include The Traveler in The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (New Hampshire Theatre Project), Nora in A Doll's House, Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, Marjorie in Extremities, Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (all at The Seacoast Repertory Theatre), Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire (winner of the Spotlight Award), Lady Macbeth, Anna in Closer, Suzy in Wait Until Dark, and Vivian Bearing in Wit (all at The Players' Ring). Constance played a teacher in the PSA Stand Up and Step Forward by 03801 Productions, which won 3 Silver Telly Awards and 3 New England Emmys.

Sharpen your audition skills in this dynamic 2.5-hour monologue workshop! Get personalized feedback on character development, clarity, pacing, stage presence, and insight on how to connect authentically to the piece, plus expert tips on selecting monologues, cold reading, and audition confidence and etiquette. With hands-on refinement exercises and insider strategies, you'll leave with stronger performance techniques and enhanced confidence for your next audition.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Participants will be asked to prepare a memorized 2-minute (max) monologue of choice.
Part 1 - Monologue Fine-Tuning - 75 mins
Each participant will perform their monologue and receive tailored direction on Clarity & Emotional Connection, Character Choices, Pacing & Vocal Dynamics, Stage Presence, Physicality & Blocking.
If time allows, actors will be able to perform again incorporating feedback and adjustments.
Fellow actors will be able to provide constructive feedback.
Part 2 - Break and Networking over coffee and snacks - 15 mins
Part 3 - Audition Success Strategies - 45 mins
Will include topics like:
Choosing the right monologue
Emotional and physical preparation: managing nerves and confidence boosters
Cold reading tips, quick decision-making and strong choices
Professionalism in the audition room
Part 4 - Q&A / Open Discussion - 15 mins
Post-workshop
The coach will share:
A recap sheet with key tips & exercises for continued practice
A list of recommended monologues for various actor types
Option to schedule a follow-up private coaching session
