The Human Lab

Every Season, The Ring contracts over 300 artists.

Many become friends.

Many end up acting together again—here or on other stages.

Some fall in love and even have kids (not literally at the theatre I would hope, but hey, we are pretty good at improv).

Some become business partners.

The Ring is many things: historic building, theatre producer, performance venue, rehearsal space, creative ground, employer, hub for experimentation, non-profit organization, a place of reflection, a provider of entertainment for all involved.

But I also like to think of it as a kind of laboratory—where chemical reactions happen, unexpected combinations form, and entirely new matter emerge.

From my Ring-shaped heart,

Margherita

Do you remember when Bretton Reis proposed to Katie Juster at the closing show of “Barefoot in the Park”? It was September 2021.

Flash forward exactly 4 years, and Katie is changing their baby in our greenroom during the run of “Waiting for Godot”!

Do you remember “Head, Heart, and Heather” written by Emily Andrews, directed by Billie Butler? Devon Padley and Fury met during that show in October 2024. (Photo by Ben Bagley)

Flash forward 1.5 years, and they are writing and producing a hilarious, sincere, dog-filled web series titled DARA (Photo by M E Kernander Photography)
