Volunteer Service Description
Position Title: House Host
Supervisor: Barbara Newton/Box Office Person
Length/time of service: Performance
Purpose: Host for the performance
Responsibilities/Specific duties:
A. Arrive one hour prior to performance:
- Help make coffee, set out cream
- Clear lobby,
- Check and supply bathrooms with paper products.
- Coordinate opening of House with Stage Manager and Box Office person.
B. When “House” opens:
- Take tickets at the door of the House.
- Help seat people in the House, when necessary.
C. During Intermission:
- Help Barbara if needed
- Keep eye on cream for refilling
- With timing from Stage Manager – ring bell to get people back into House.
D. After the show
- Clear House of programs and coffee cups
- Load dishwasher
Qualifications: Welcoming, pleasant, personality; should enjoy interacting with the public and being the host for their theatrical evening.
Training: Basic Volunteer introduction to include:
- Greeting
- Ticket tearing
- House layout
- Appropriate attire
Supervision/Evaluation: as requested/as needed
Benefits: One free ticket to the show the volunteer is hosting.
Outcomes of this volunteer position:
It is essential that the volunteer at the door start the audience’s theatrical experience. We would like the audience members to feel welcome to the Players’ Ring from the moment they enter the lobby.
